Curated Wines for the Season Ahead

Cadet Club, June 2026

Summer calls for wines that match the season — bright whites to carry the heat of the afternoon, structured reds for evenings around the table, and the kind of bottles that spark conversations. This curated selection spans California's most compelling appellations, from the fog-cooled vineyards of the Russian River Valley and Sonoma County to the legendary benchlands of Dry Creek and the historic hillsides of Napa Valley. Each wine was chosen with care — for the quality in the glass, the story behind it, and the value it delivers to your cellar.

2023 GlassMen Wines Sonoma County Chardonnay   |   $35

Sonoma County, California  |  Winemaker: Brian Kulich

WHY WE CHOSE THIS WINE

GlassMen was established in 2021 with a focused mission: produce complex yet approachable Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that speaks to a range of palates without compromising quality. The 2023 vintage has already been called one of the finest in Sonoma's recent history — ideal conditions for capturing what makes this region's Chardonnay so compelling. For a summer white that won't disappoint, this bottle hits every mark.

TASTING NOTES

Classic citrus-forward aromatics of lemon, lime, green and yellow apple with hints of white peach. A note of river rock minerality and fresh lily flower rounds out the bouquet, while touches of toasted French oak on the palate deliver texture without weight. Clean, bright, and eminently summer-ready.

RED WINES

2022 Langhart & Hill Russian River Valley Estate Pinot Noir   |   $35

Russian River Valley, Sonoma County  |  Adam & Eve Redwoods Vineyard

WHY WE CHOSE THIS WINE

Langhart & Hill is a family-owned estate winery farming the Adam & Eve Redwoods Vineyard near the confluence of Dry Creek, the Russian River, and Mill Creek — one of the coolest, most complex microclimates in all of Sonoma. The vineyard grows three noble Pinot Noir clones (Pommard 4, Swan, and Dijon 115), a commitment to clonal diversity that translates directly to complexity in the glass. The 2022 earned a Gold Award and 94 points at the Harvest Terroir Wine Challenge. At $35, it is genuinely remarkable value for estate RRV Pinot.

TASTING NOTES

Wild strawberry, bright red fruit, and spice on the nose with an underlying vibrancy that defines the Sonoma Coast-influenced style. The palate is fresh and focused, driven by red fruit and fine-grained structure — the kind of Pinot that performs equally well with grilled salmon at a summer dinner or just off the chill.

2022 Overshine Cellars Zinfandel, Maple Vineyard, Shorty's Block, Dry Creek Valley   |   $52

Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County  |  Maple Vineyard (est. 1910)

WHY WE CHOSE THIS WINE

Overshine Wine Co. is one of Sonoma's most thoughtfully run boutique producers — committed to sustainability, single-vineyard specificity, and a distinctly inclusive approach to wine culture. The Maple Vineyard is one of the crown jewels of Dry Creek Valley: 27 acres of head-trained Zinfandel on high bench land, the oldest block dating to 1910. Farmed without irrigation by David Rafanelli using the same labor-intensive traditional methods as generations before, these old vines are pushed to their limits before harvest — small berries, concentrated flavors, and a natural link to the history of California winemaking. Shorty's Block is a specific, limited selection from within that legendary site.

TASTING NOTES

Brambleberry, black currant, cocoa powder, and a hint of cedar define the aromatic profile. On the palate, rich dark fruit concentration balances with the firm structure and natural acidity you expect from old-vine, dry-farmed Zin. A wine with genuine depth and a finish that lingers — the kind of Zinfandel that earns its place at the table.

2022 Spike Wine North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon   |   $25

North Coast, California

WHY WE CHOSE THIS WINE

Spike Wine was created by Anna and Mario Monticelli — two winemakers who trained directly under 100-point consultant Philippe Melka and built their careers at Napa Valley estates such as Bryant Family and Seavey. That pedigree shows in every aspect of this bottling: sourcing, cellar regimen, and the polished structure in the glass. At $25, it is the kind of wine that makes you question everything you thought you knew about the relationship between price and quality in California Cabernet. The brand also honors the human-canine bond through contributions to the American Humane Society — a story worth telling to your guests.

TASTING NOTES

Dark ruby in the glass with aromas of dark cherry, blackberry, plum, lilac, and cassis with a whisper of cocoa. The palate is richly fruited at its core with layers of spice and dark chocolate, fine-grained tannins, and a long, silky finish. Drink now through 2030.

2023 Head High Syrah, Sonoma County   |   $30

Sonoma County, California

WHY WE CHOSE THIS WINE

Head High is California's first self-declared Ocean Positive winery — every decision rooted in sustainability and a genuine commitment to the coastal environment that shapes their fruit. Their Sonoma County Syrah spent ten months in 25% new French oak with the remainder in neutral barrels, a precise approach that lets the vineyard's character lead without over-extraction. For summer evenings where you want something with backbone but not heaviness, this is the bottle — and a brand story your guests will connect with.

TASTING NOTES

A captivating nose of brambleberry and black currant with a distinctive note of shiso leaf. Cedar wood and sweet tobacco emerge on the palate, building to a rich and complex profile. Firm yet fine-grained tannins and a lingering finish make this a natural companion to grilled meats, rosemary-rubbed lamb, or a braised pork with balsamic.

2019 J. Moss Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon   |   $69

Napa Valley, California  |  Rutherford & Coombsville AVAs

WHY WE CHOSE THIS WINE

J. Moss is a boutique family-owned winery founded by James and Janet Moss in South Napa, producing small-lot, single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from the valley floor to the mountain hillsides of Napa's most celebrated appellations. This Napa Valley bottling draws from Rutherford and Coombsville — two of the valley's most distinguished AVAs — and represents the house style at its most refined and accessible. Total production hovers around 1,700 cases annually, and the wines regularly earn accolades from Wine Enthusiast and the broader trade. The 2019 vintage is widely regarded as one of Napa's finest of the decade. For a guest looking to experience what Napa Cabernet is all about at an honest price, this is the answer.

TASTING NOTES

Layers of black and red berries, ripe cherry, mocha, sweet vanilla, and toasted cedar. Crafted in the Bordeaux style from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine is medium-bodied with soft, structured tannins and a long, polished finish. Balanced and elegant, it rewards those who understand the craft behind it.
